The plants have awakened early this year.  We have had a very mild winter and we are now engaged in spring activities.  The weather has been so mild that the ground hasn't really had a good long, solid freeze and now, the plants sprouted from the ground much earlier than they usually do in our cold little valley.  The crocuses and the snow drops are now finished blooming. The apple and crabapple blossoms are bursting out along with the wonderful yellow flowers that were planted in the stone wall behind the manor so many years ago.  Plants have their own rhythm of resting and growing and these early risers can adapt somewhat.  People need those resting and growing cycles as well, both in our physical lives and in our spiritual lives. "I really needed this time away" is something we hear often here at Olmsted.  In May, the Rev. Dr. James Harnish will present a workshop designed specifically for clergy who often deal with very stressful situations and need the time and the tools for physical, mental and spiritual self-care.  Spiritual self-care, here at Olmsted. Perfect.
